Real life outside Social Media!

The Real Life outside Social Media-

Facebook /WhatsApp /Twitter – Three parallel virtual worlds and the many synonyms of each. Where are we living these days?!?!

What inspired me to write this now is my recent visit to a play area. The kids are the most adorable creatures , Always fun to talk to and to play with. Now , They are living in the virtual world to be liked / commented / to be shared.

Life has changed so much in the past few years for everybody. Purposes of life has changed so much. When was the last time you went to a place where your purpose of visit was solely to engross in the beauty of the place. ‘Oh wait I need to click a pic to be uploaded in Facebook.’ Oh wait that didn’t come out right… another one’‘Oh with another background!’ Now to upload after editing on Instagram, trying all the shades. Cut crop upload… Then wait for the likes, count the likes, wait for the comments. All in the trip where the sole purpose is no more to engross in the place, time and person you are with but to share and to look for notifications.

                 We are all lost!

Reality has become a lodge where you stay but do not belong. I’m not saying that there are no advantages to all this. There are no more teary farewell parties that used to happen years ago where you really said goodbye . You knew you may not meet your classmates or schoolmates ever in your life again… You wouldn’t know where they would settle, unless you met somebody who met your friend accidentally somewhere and then you tried to contact. May or may not have succeeded. No WhatsApp groups. You just moved on in life with a fading picture of your past. Now we never say goodbye. Next moment you can see your friends online and even know what they are thinking. World has shrunken. Almost nobody alive disappears. How much earnest are friendships on webworld? I know of people who are very vocal on social media who don’t even smile when they meet in the real world.

Alter egos, false projection, desperation, boredom, unproductivity. For few days, Unknowingly, I returned to the real world. I saw more things. Listened to more people, laughed out loud (LOL) more often… literally went ROFL… Had gone to places without a camera, admired the sky,had time to play with kids, realized people around (and myself ) are getting old!!

I had time to think of doing things and noticing things which otherwise I would not have preferred trading with my time in the alter world. I didn’t miss anyone. Of my so many Facebook friends ,those who mattered kept in touch…!

It’s not a write up to say life is getting worse with technology and that it is a villain, and we should go back ! But pause! Take a look around and be here, in this beautiful real world first; and then maybe wander off for a while.

Where do you live? In the social networks or in the moments around you?

My daughter - my great teacher of strength!

My daughter - my great teacher of strength!

Often I hear people saying that having girls is our weakness....not many appreciate in having daughters....having daughters seems like a burden to few parents or they consider them to be their weakness unfortunately . To all those who think having girls really is your weakness..wake up! I think having daughters is your strength-I can say this without a doubt and one day when my little girls grow up they will definitely prove me right       in sha Allah!

"There is a bond between a mother and a daughter like no other"!

The other night after I was thinking about ways we can strengthen our wills to achieve our dreams, I went to my daughter to kiss her goodnight and make sure she hadn’t kicked off all her blankets.  She had, as usual.  As I was gently pulling up the blankets again, I realized that she has a lot to teach me about strength of will.  About a lot of things, but the will part is what I was thinking about at the moment.

She has a very strong will.  I’m a person who might have had that kind of strength of will at some point but I lost touch with it along the way, and I’m endeavoring to re-cultivate that wonderful quality within myself now in a positive way.

Hm… Why Does This Upset Me So Much?

My daughter’s strong will used to really trigger me, though.  When someone else really upsets us, it’s usually a sign that we’ve repressed some aspect of ourselves to “be acceptable” and the other person is just revealing that repressed part of ourselves to us in all its glory.  So, when I have the presence of mind to do it, I take the time to tap on my feelings until I feel better and I can come to a new place of understanding and healing about the issue.  Usually, this turns out to be some variation of allowing her to be who she is and allowing myself to be who I am.

Look Around You For Your Best Teachers

As I often say, life is a great teacher of what we need to let go of in order to live in unconditional well-being.  And the people we love the most are often our greatest teachers.  My daughter ( Simrah  Humaira ) has been a great catalyst for a lot of good tapping & healing for me over the years.  She’s taught me to honor what feels right to me, to take action as I am inspired, and to never give up on something I really want.

She Acts as She is Inspired

She is just going to turn 3 !  She has always been the kind of girl who gets an idea about something that she wants to do and takes action immediately to do it.  I have to be careful sometimes about things I say at the dinner table because if it inspires her, if it gives her an idea of something she wants to do right now, then she’ll get up and enthusiastically start doing it and it takes a lot of effort to get her to wait and eat her dinner first.  But I do love that about her.

She’s always been that way; that’s just her natural inclination and who she is.  And it does take a lot of strength on my part as a mother not to squash that.  Of course there are limits and things I need to say no to, but I do my best to honor her will and support her in doing the things that she’s inspired to do as much as possible.

Keep Breathing and living

Sometimes when she is getting very upset because things seemingly don't  happen the way she wanted them to right away, I had this powerful realization that the power of her will was going to take her far in life if I was able to preserve it and honor it and help her channel it in a positive way.  This has been a challenge because, for the most part, our culture doesn't really approve of or support children or adults in having strong wills.  We’re finding our way through and doing the best we can, as always.  Although we may falter at times, we do pretty well overall.

The Beauty of a Strong Will

Now, at a tiny age , She is continuing to grow and blossom into a wonderful, compassionate, creative girl who has a vibrant, strong sense of herself and what’s right for her in her life.  Her natural tendency is to be clear about who she is and what she wants and to take persistent action until she achieves it, enjoying the process the whole way, knowing instinctively that that’s a key part of living a happy life: enjoying the journey. And ... of course there is a long journey ahead !

Yes, she has a lot to teach me.  And I am learning more and more each day. I'm sure in the years to come she is going to become a wonderful human being and I being her guide , she is going to be my little teacher forever!

My second daughter ( Sidrah ) is just a year old.She is too small to write something on her or about her :) she definitely teaches me to keep smiling no matter what! I'm happy that she already has a beautiful mentor and a forever friend to guide & teach her in life . That's the beauty of sisterhood! They play together , laugh & giggle together , they learn together and they are growing together ! They are the best caring little creatures! MashAllah!

I absolutely adore my two princesses...they are very smart, gorgeous, funny, wonderful, special girls and I love them unconditionally, a little more every day for the rest of my life...and yes-They are my strengths!
